Just when you REALLY needed to get away on retreat (specifically the scheduled Wild & Bright Retreat) and a major pandemic swoops in.
All of our fears, worries, doubts and major stressors become heightened at this time.
What do I do?
Breathe. Smile. Believe. (After I have a good freak out letting out all the emotions).
Breath is POWERFUL! It is a direct link to releasing stress reducing hormones in our body. So even just a few deep breath’s can go a long way. Expert tip: Lie down and place a gentle heavy blanket on the abdomen. Ahhhh- this will really stimulate the parasympathetic “relaxation” part of our autonomic nervous system.
Smiling, even if it is a fake it till ya make it sort of smile- has been shown to release stress relieving hormones. Excessive worry and fear are linked to a stunted immune system.
Let the smiling begin sisters!
Believe that ALL is working out as it is divinely supposed to.
Ever had a plan and it completely fell apart only to then discover why it wasn’t really the best timing in the first place? Sometimes our best plan is not in alignment with our/or another’s Higher Purpose. In times like this, I do not know the “WHY?” but I do know it will be revealed.
Allow ALL the emotions!
There is a lot of focus on positivity and gratitude. I am a firm believer. I am also a firm believer (due to neuroscience research, personal experience and working with hundreds of clients) that emotions are indeed a sensation that is fleeting.
Meaning, if we allow ourselves to feel a negative emotion and if we are willing to sit with- it in about 90 seconds it will dissipate and no longer be stored in our body. When negativity, worry, stress and fear is pushed down inside us- we have a reduced immune response.
Go ahead and be truthful for a moment. How do you feel. Be aware of that feeling and how it is connected to a sensation in part(s) of your body.
